RIDERS NOTES

Subject: (9-19-19) 186 Ride Report
Hello Riders.

1. (9-19-19) Ride
This morning ALR 186 member Jim Cirulli & myself met at Post 186 at 0845 AM. We waited until 9:00 AM & when no one else showed up we did a KSU & traveled to War Bird Park in Myrtle Beach  for the 51st reunion services of the NJ Air National Guard unit known as the "Jersey Devil Dogs" during the Vietnam War.  Myrtle Beach is special to this unit because many of them came to Myrtle Beach AFB during the Vietnam War to be trained on the F-100 Super Sabre fighter aircraft before they were deployed to Vietnam. After the services were over today we got to talk with these hero's & they were all grateful that we came to be part of their reunion.
(Note) Our Post 186 Riders were the only America Legion representatives there today. (Jim & I were proud of that.) See pictures attached.

2. "Wash the Wall" Ride.
We have been discussing the "Wash the Wall: ride for 2 months now. As far as I know there are  only (2) of our members attending this event in Wash. DC in Oct.
(Note) Be advised that today ( 9-19-19) is the last day to reserve a room at the Hampton Inn in Alexandria VA. for this event.)

(Tomorrow 9-20-19 is POW/MIA Day.) Many American Troops are still unaccounted for.
"NEVER FORGET THEM."

Riders 186: Hello brothers & sisters.

Reports of recent ALR 186 events

1. (9-11-19) I'll repeat that we had (9) Rider members show up for the "Flags over the Bridges" Memorial event for the (9-11-2001) Radical Muslim Terrorist Attacks on the USA.

We stood with Flags on the bridge at SC Rt #31 & SC Rt & 9. (Members present were Fred, Greg, Sandy, Lee, May, Darryl, Rick, & Brent. There was one other member there, but I can't recall who it was at this time. (Sorry) I throwed away my notes of the day. (Picture Attached)

2. (9-14-19) ALRSC "Meet & Greet".

Ten members of Post 186 attended the ALRSC 2019 "Meet & Greet" at Legion Post 34 in Rock Hill, SC. on Sat. (9-14-19). We all had a good time, & got to meet many of the Legion Riders from other Chapters around the State. We also appreciated the free food, soft drinks, & hospitality given by Post 34. They did an outstanding job. (The ten 186 members present on Sat. were Fred & Cheryl - Greg & Sandy, Don & Tina, Lee & May & Bent & Anne. (Picture attached.)

3. (9-15-19) Legion Riders & Legion Breakfast.

We had our Riders breakfast this past Sunday. We didn't have as many customers show up this time as we did the last time so our financial intake wasn't as good, but it was good enough to purchase some Flag poles, & Flags for our Chapter if we want to add them to our Riders inventory. (We'll discuss that at our next ALR meeting on Oct. 12, 2019.

Most of you know that because we could not get enough Legion Riders to volunteer to work our Sunday breakfasts we had to team up with the Legion to get it done. Even so I still noticed that there are still volunteers from the Aux. & or SAL who gratefully come in to help us.

We need to thank these people often. (Our Rider volunteers there were.) Rachel, Carrie, Mike, Lee, May, & Brent. (Pic attached.) Note: If I forgot anyone who was there volunteering for the Riders I'm sorry.

186 Riders. Hello.

(Todays Ride Report)
ALR 186 Ride Captain Lee Tavernner reports that he arrived at Post 186 this morning for today’s  ride, and by 11 AM (KSU) only one 186 rider had showed up. (Veteran member Tom Russell).

Lee said they decided to ride North, so they departed Post 186 & rode into North Carolina. Lee reported the ride was a good one, & went without incident.

While Lee was reporting about today’s ride we discussed the fact that very few riders are showing up for rides. We agreed that in the future we will ask riders to confirm in advance if they plan to ride on any week day or weekend rides so the ride captain &/or the ride assistants don't ride all the way to the Post for nothing. (If less than three 186 riders confirm we will cancel.)

For the time being we will continue to schedule rides for weekdays, and Saturdays.
1. Weekday rides will now be on Wednesdays with KSU at 11 AM
2. Weekend rides will be on Saturday with KSU at 11 AM (Except for meeting Saturdays).

Reminder: Our next ALR 186 meeting is on Sept. 7, 2019 at 11 AM or when the Legion meeting is adjourned. (Final details of the ALRSC "Meet & Greet" event on Sept. 14, will be discussed.) We have 10 members who are interested in attending so far.
